5 Ways to blend Colored pencils -- Blending methods explained

2017-10-17 2

I have been getting a lot of requests lately to show how to blend colored pencils. So I thought I would make a short video showing a few different techniques I usually use in my drawings. There are several techniques out there but I am only showing my preferred blending methods. I use these techniques for my drawings according to the objects that I am drawing.\r
\r
Layering method --- for very smooth seamless blending --- Skin, cast shadows etc\r
Burnishing --- for shiny colorful objects like plastics and shiny fruits.\r
Blender pencils --- for light skin tones and to spread a light color evenly on paper.\r
Solvents –- I use this method for almost anything except skin. Suitable for garments brightly colored objects, birds etc.\r
White pencil --- If you want to dull the color and get a whitish finish. Suitable for flowers with light pastel colors.\r
