SCOTUS to review Microsoft overseas email controversy

U.S. law enforcement uses overseas digital evidence in cases like drug trafficking and child rape. But a legal case with Microsoft barred U.S. investigators from gaining access to emails on a Microsoft computer in Ireland, which prompted other tech companies to deny investigators access to overseas data. But on Monday, The Supreme Court decided to review whether Microsoft should start handing over data stored in Ireland. The court will revisit a 1986 law that dictates how police can access digital evidence.
