Pink, women-only buses are adding a new wrinkle to Turkey's new transit initiative.
Last year, hundreds of sexual harassment cases were reported in Turkey. Because of this, the women-only buses were added to help improve safety. Some women say they feel safer riding the pink buses, while others believe isolating women is an inadequate solution to sexual harassment. Instead, they say people should advocate for better sexual education.
Countries such as Japan, India, and Brazil have similar initiatives. But for now, separating genders seems like a quick fix for a much bigger problem.
