Britain could tax Facebook and Twitter to fight cyber-bullying

"Britain is the safest place in the world to be online." This is what Theresa May's government claimed in a proposal on Wednesday that seeks to tax social media sites to fight cyberbullying. Facebook and Twitter are two of the targeted platforms. The levy would be similar to those on gambling companies that fun anti-addiction programs. But the taxes would go toward supporting victims of online bullying. The internet has been an amazing force for good, but it has caused undeniable suffering… and can be an especially harmful place for children and vulnerable people.
