As promised I have started the fishing video . I will be doing a separate video on each type of fish and each type of location. This will include lake fishing, pond fishing, creek and stream fishing and even river fishing.\r
\r
Each type of water requires different fishing gear and techniques.\r
\r
Todays video is about catching bluegill and sunfish from a small lake or a pond.\r
\r
Ponds are generally full of weeds and they are not very deep. This presents a situation where you have to use weedless type fishing lures and bait.\r
\r
Today I am using a little bobber and a jig head with a piece of worm on it. The bobber keeps the jig head from snagging up in the weeds and the weight of the jig head helps me get the line out there to the fish.\r
\r
The worm helps attr the early season fish and keep them on. Right now the water has just recently warmed up and the fish are still coming out of their dormant stage. They are not very aggressive and need to be enticed to bite.\r
\r
In summer I can catch these all day on a spinner bait or a jig with rubber worm but right now those will not work.\r
\r
I do not like still fishing because more often than not the little fish will eat the bait off your lure before you know it. They are good at this.\r
\r
I like to cast the line out and then very slowly retrieve it, stopping occasionally. This motion draws the attention of any fish nearby. Stopping from time to time allows the fish to catch up to your lure and grab it in its mouth.\r
\r
When a fish is near your lure let it sit for a second. If the fish bites then let it take the lure down a second before pulling sharply to set the hook.\r
\r
If the fish does not bite immediately then a little bit of motion by reeling in the line a bit often makes the fish strike.\r
\r
When you catch a panfish such as a bluegill or sunfish, there is a safe way to handle them so you do not get poked by their sharp back fins.\r
\r
The fins have very sharp spines on them which will poke you badly if you are not careful.\r
\r
To get a fish off your line first slowly run your hand down the line. Move slowly so you do not stress the fish and make it flop. It should hang there relaxed for you.\r
\r
Get a firm grip on the tip of your hook or lure. Keep it firmly in your hand. Now slide your other hand down over the fish, with its back fin facing your palm. Slide slowly form its nose down until your hand is halfway down its back. This ion will push the back fins into their resting positions and allow you to get a firm grip on the fish so you can pull out the hook.\r
\r
I hope you enjoyed this video. I have some fish to clean and cook.\r

Please like, share and subscribe.\r
