California Gov. Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency in Napa, Sonoma and Yuba counties, as multiple fires burned homes and prompted mass evacuations. The fire, which ignited around 10 p.m. Sunday, burned an estimated 35,000 acres across Sonoma and Napa counties Monday. The National Weather Service said the massive blazes have caused power outages and issued a "red flag" warning for the region.
