Michelle and Barack Obama reached the 25-year mark of their marriage on Tuesday, and the former first lady celebrated the occasion with a heart-melting tweet.
“Happy 25th anniversary @barackobama. A quarter of a century later, you're still my best friend & the most extraordinary man I know. I [love] you," she wrote.
That message has since been retweeted tens of thousands of times and garnered hundreds of thousands of likes.
USA Today notes that the two met back in 1989 when Michelle was "assigned to mentor Barack," who had joined her law firm as a summer associate.
They were married in 1992.
The couple has, of course, gone on to serve as the president and first lady of the United States, but, as Newsweek notes, they have also, “…so frequently inspired use of the hashtag and phrase ‘relationship goals’ that it seems they have a monopoly on the term…”
