The official statutes of the European federation of circus schools were not registered until 2004, all the presidents they had left their personal mark and vision in the federation, since 1998 has grown and expanded by gathering and representing a wide range of training circus institutions, its role is to think collectively about education in circus arts in the present and future, to share visions and to seek creative and realistic solutions in order to advance in pedagogy and creation, also works for the official recognition of the Circus vocational training courses, and thanks to this a great variety of schools and training programs have emerged, which reflects the great diversity that exists in the circus arts.
The federation helps educational institutions with their relationship with local, regional and national authorities to support the development of programs and the recognition of them as well as the teaching profession, also provides assistance to facilities and infrastructure. The commitment of the FEDEC to pedagogy and recognition of the circus arts and its professionals is based on open discussions and a horizontal flow of information, knowledge and experiences, these principles of collaboration between its members were established since the first projects of educational exchanges of both students and teachers, which were strengthened thanks to two flagship projects; EPE from 2005 to 2007, European pedagogical exchanges between circus school partners, winning the Leonardo da Vinci prize for creativity and innovation in 2009, and since 2006 the CIRCLE project within the contemporary circus festival CIRCA.
In 2008 the FEDEC was chosen for the first time as a partner network of the European commission of education and culture, receives annually the operating grant JEAN MONETTE which allows them to carry out two projects of great magnitude; The CIRCLE project which is the first directory of circus training programs and the MIROIR project which is a dialogue between schools and circus employers about the competences of graduates and their professional insertion. In 2009 the European Federation of Circus Schools established an office for services and coordination towards members. In 2010 in the Rogelio Riveil circus school focus groups were created to inquire about issues of students, directors and teachers, as well as to seek associations with the professional sector and to promote research in the education of the circus, from then on the members meet twice a year; the first between March and April organized in the headquarters of one of the members, the second in CIRCA festival at the end of October.
