OnePlus 5 name and model number spotted on Chinas regulatory authority website. OnePlus to skip 4, and name the next flagship, OnePlus 5. Last year, Chinese smartphone company, OnePlus, launched two smartphones – the OnePlus 3 and a slightly upgraded OnePlus 3T. Now, while rumors about the OnePlus 3 successor are doing the rounds, the smartphone company is widely expected to skip OnePlus 4 moniker, and instead release the OnePlus 5. A latest report now sheds light on the model number of the upcoming OnePlus smartphone.\r

Wondering why the OnePlus 4 is likely to be skipped? Interestingly, in China, the number ‘4 is considered unlucky, and is perceived\r
synonymous to the words ‘death or ‘decease. According to a report on Android Pure, a OnePlus smartphone with model number A5000 has been listed on China Radio Regulation Authoritys website, hinting that the next ‘flagship killer from the Chinese smartphone company is likely to be called OnePlus 5.\r

The connection drawn between the model numbers and handset names is simple. The OnePlus 3 carries a model number A3000, whereas the OnePlus 3T was tagged as A3010. Besides the naming, we have already come across a few leaks around the OnePlus 5. A Chinese publication PCPop recently revealed that the OnePlus 5 could feature 8GB of RAM, and be powered by Qualcomms latest Snapdragon 835 chipset. This would place the OnePlus 5 against heads on with Samsungs Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. There were also reports, that the OnePlus 5 will feature a dual-curved edge display, just like the one on Samsungs Galaxy S7 edge, and the latest Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. The OnePlus 5 has also been rumored to sport a 23-megapixel rear camera and a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. Some rumors also suggest that the smartphone could boast a dual-camera setup at the back, with the sensors placed vertically. On the storage front, 64GB and 128GB variants are expected.\r

In terms of design, the OnePlus 5 is said to feature a sleek design with thinner bezels, thereby following the trend of this years flagships. OnePlus is also expected to ditch the aluminum body, and opt for a ceramic body like the Xiaomi Mi MIX. As for pricing, OnePlus is rumored to price the OnePlus 5 a little under $500 (Rs 32,300). For power, the OnePlus 5 is expected to be fuelled with a 4,000mAh battery along with the companys Dash Charge technology. On the software front, the OnePlus 5 could run on Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box with OxygenOS running on top.\r
