8. The St. Augustine Monster\r
\r
This classic cryptid stumped spectators over a hundred years ago! A large, unidentified blobby mass of matter that washed up in Florida in 1886. The collected matter weighed in at an astonishing 6 tons and described at the time as having seven tentacles and a tail! Originally postulated as the remains of a giant octopus several more recent studies confirm that the bloated decomposing mess was probably the swirling, blubbery remains of a sperm whale. It has the distinction of being one of the very first recorded “globsters”.\r

7. Elko Beach Fish \r
\r
Lagos, Nigeria now where an incredibly large, alabaster beast washed ashore on Elko Beach. No one could determine what species the milky-white fish with its strange brownish ridges even belonged to or if, for that matter, it was even a fish at all. However, before anyone could make a proper assessment locals stormed the beach, armed with machetes and began to cut the albino brute apart for their dinner! Apparently the fishy flesh tasted like many different kinds of sea animals and, as such, not a great way to determine its species. Waste not want not.\r

6. Conjoined Gray Whales\r
\r
This freaky cryptid washed ashore on Baja Beach, California. the gross-looking creature ually turned out to be conjoined grey whale twins. researchers from Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County in California believe the calves were premature, the result of the extra strain of carrying twins and didnt make it through labor. This didnt stop some online commentators to speculate that it was a two-headed mutant resultant from the Fukushima Nuclear accident in new.\r

5.Giant Squid\r

Tales go back throughout all of history of the mighty kraken, a gigantic squid that could tear ships apart and leave men to die in Davy Jones Locker. 4. New Zealand Monster Mystery\r
\r
This gruesome creature was discovered on a beach in New Zealand, bloated and rotting with no visible eyes and rows of razor-sharp teeth. Measuring in at 30 foot long this prehistoric-looking monster fueled online speculation after a video was posted to YouTube. Commentors theorized that it may be some relative of the plesiosaur, a dinosaur that people often believe is still swimming about in Loch Ness! However, scientists believe it to be an over-decayed Orca, a Killer Whale, which would account for its impressive size and gnarly gnashers. \r

3. Catalina Oarfish \r
\r
This large beastie, seen here chilling on the beach with Marine Biologist Annie MacAulay, washed ashore on South Catalina Island last year. The Oarfish is a mysterious creature that likes to swim at great depths, up to 3,000 feet beneath the water making sightings of the serpentine sea-monsters incredibly rare. Though this specimen was around 15 and a half feet its been thought that oarfish can grow up to 50 feet and may have been the inspiration behind the giant sea-serpent myths found throughout history. The 200 pound sea-creature is the largest boned fish on Earth but, dont worry, they only eat krill, teeny tiny crustaceans found in sea-water.\r

2. Montauk Monster\r
\r
Imagine going to the beach for a picnic and stumbling upon this weird little critter. Thats exly what happened to Jenna Hewitt and her friends on Ditch Plains Beach in Montauk, Rhode Island. The decomposing body looked unlike anything they had ever seen with its strange pink body, dog-like legs and bizarre, toothy beak. Speculation ran wild as to what this poor creature could be; a dead racoon, a turtle with its shell detached maybe? Rumours even began to swirl that it might have been some rogue mutant that had escaped from the nearby Plum Island Animal Disease Center. Whatever the case, the corpse mysteriously disappeared soon after finding international fame.\r

1. Russian Mammoth?\r

Researchers and the public were both stumped when this hairy, beaked sea-monster slithered its way on-shore. Reported by witnesses at the site on Sakhalin Island as being ”twice the length of a human” its exposed bones and partially-eaten body were likened to that of a Ganges River Dolphin but people were quick to point out how unlikely a fresh-water Dolphin would
