That's what I always said about Philip, every disaster is for him an opportunity.
Philip knows everything, it's sort of godlike in that way, he likes to sit above the world and look down and see what all these little people are doing, for him it's like watching mice in a labyrinth.
I think Philip wants from Angela everything that he has given up in his life, and he's chosen her as the person that he wants that from.
I think it's about intimacy, which apparently he doesn't have in his life, it's about understanding, friendship, some kind of love, any of those things would be in the way, he wants to know he is the most powerful person in the room.
Whiterose is a wild card and capable of a lot, Philip made a bargain with the devil, and it's worked, I think Philip is in a continuous battle to try to maintain some kind of control over Whiterose, over Minister Zhang, to protect himself.
I think it's easy to think of Philip as a currency manipulator, but the fact is he's created his own currency. I think we take for granted a piece of paper that says a dollar on it, we've just gotten used to it, but it's not a lot more meaningful than something called bitcoin or something called Ecoin, but beyond manipulating a currency, he actually created a currency, and what he's doing is really manipulating the world's economy, that is a threat.
I don't get to interact with a lot of the characters, so it's disappointing as an actor, because Rami is such a terrific actor, and it's frustrating that we haven't had more scenes and yet in terms of the story we are very connected and I think season three is going to show more and more how connected Philip is to Elliot, and I'm really looking forward to it.
