I hope you are doing well. This weekend has seen the world’s elite climbers descend on Stuttgart for a truly special competition. adidas ROCKSTARS 2017 combines over 80 invited athletes from 25 different countries with intense musical performances and a passionate crowd of over 3500 fans to create an event unlike anything else in the climbing universe.
Even by the high standards of adidas ROCKSTARS, the athlete line-up this year was incredibly strong. Of the 82 athletes who started, the field was narrowed over 2 rounds to just 6 male and 6 female finalists. The crowd in the Porsche-Arena saw an outstanding final, which could only be surpassed by an even more exciting “Superfinal”. The competing men and women were responsible for the ultimate highlights on this day.
In the end Alex Puccio (USA) and Tomoa Narasaki (JPN) were able to climb faster than their opponents in the 1-vs-1 duel on the last and critical boulder. Now they are allowed to officially call themselves “adidas ROCKSTAR 2017”.
Jongwon Chon (KOR), Kokoro Fujii (JPN) in the men’s and Janja Garnbret (SLO), Miho Nonaka (JPN) in the women’s category can also be very satisfied with rank two and three respectively. The seventh edition of the bouldering event taking place in Stuttgart (GER) was not only a true highlight for the bouldering community on this weekend, but also for the climbing newbies.
