The Zhu Zhu pets were previously known as the Go Go Hamsters in the United Kingdom. This is a US-based toy line of plush robot-like hamster toys produced by the company Cepia LLC in new, when the company was very small, employing a mere 16 employees in the USA and 30 in China. At the end of the same year, these small toys became a craze and the company earned a large profit. \r
\r
The Zhu Zhu Pets were made by Russ Hornsby, and the name comes from the Mandarin language, meaning “small pig.” The prototype of the Zhu Zhu Pets is 9 different figures, with names such as Mr Squiggles, Chunk, Num Nums, and PipSqueak, with a variety of accessories in the aim of creating personalized hamster surroundings. The Zhu Zhu Pets can be placed in two play modes: the nurturing mode, within which they make sounds of cooing and purring, and the adventure mode, when they are busy in exploring their abode as well as responding to a variety of stimuli.\r
\r
The baby hamsters which are featured in this play set do not need any batteries, considering their movements ensue from a roller ball which is located underneath their stomachs which in turn allows them to move about during their interion with their mumsy and popsy hamsters. The sizes of the toys are in proportion with the parent hamsters.\r
\r

Reviews:\r

“My children just had to have these sets – the Zhu Zhu Hamster Babies! However, they are not powered by batteries like their parents, the furry Zhu Zhu Pets, which is a great relief, as kids hair cannot get caught in the wheels Also, there is no sound coming out when their noses are pressed. They seem very really, these toys, and some people mistake them for real hamsters. The Peppa Pigs figures are a classic, and always delightful.” Ms Rowen Anderson, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA\r
\r
“These toy pets are so cute and so very popular, that my 4 year old sister Rowena simply had to have a baby Zhu Zhu, as she already had the ones which worked with the help of batteries. Later I found out that the furry Zhu Zhu pets required batteries, but not the furry ones. These pets dont do anything much, but they are so cute looking that it is difficult not to love them immediately. The set, however, has too many small parts and thus it can be quite difficult for very young children. Also, it is not at all easy to build, and basically, I built the entire set by myself, with my sister looking on.” – Ms Maryanne Solds-Pitt, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA \r
