ADELAIDE superstar Eddie Betts is shooting for a hat-trick of Goal of the Year awards after winning through to the final stage of the 2017 prize.

Betts will go head to head with Sydney’s Coleman Medallist Lance Franklin and Richmond livewire Daniel Rioli as he tries to win the award for an incredible fourth time.

The winner is decided by a public vote which closes at 11.29pm on September 14, with the winner revealed at the AFL’s Brownlow Medal presentation on September 25.

Three-time All-Australian Betts is nominated for his amazing Round 9 goal against Brisbane at the Gabba, where he bumps the ball loose, gathers off his bootlaces and fires an acute snap home through traffic. It was one of his three nominations in season 2017.

Franklin is nominated for his barnstorming goal after taking two bounces — and recovering a fumble — down the western side of Adelaide Oval against the Crows in Round 22. The goal was reminiscent of his effort to win the 2010 prize at the MCG.

Betts first won the award playing for Carlton in 2006 before claiming back-to-back titles in 2015 and 2016.

He was also a finalist in his first season with the Crows in 2014.
