ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA — Over a dozen people were seriously wounded after a car ignited fuel during a burnout competition in Adelaide, Australia on Sunday.
Friction from the tyres ignited the fuel, causing fire to spew from the wheels. According to Australian newspaper The Gold Coast Bulletin, 14 people were hospitalized. One person was critically wounded, according to Adelaide newspaper the Advertiser.
Organisers of the Red CentreNats competition stopped the event immediately after the incident.
