Markets Are Closed for Labor Day, and the European Central Bank Will Meet
The bank has been buying government and corporate bonds in an effort to bolster the economy of the 19-nation eurozone, but as economic growth accelerates in the region, expectations are building
that Mr. Draghi will soon announce a tapering of that program.
The focus will be on the language used by the bank’s president, Mario Draghi,
and whether he will announce a tapering of the central bank’s monetary stimulus program.
It is fair to say that the quarterly earnings report of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, the business-computing company
that used to be part of the old Hewlett-Packard, is not a place where many expect corporate drama.
But on Tuesday, analysts may have some questions for Meg Whitman, H. P.E.’s chief executive who was in the mix
to become the new chief at Uber, the ride-hailing company that cannot seem to do anything without drama.
