STOCKHOLM — A man stabbed and wounded a police officer in the neck in central Stockholm on Thursday near
a demonstration against the deportation of unaccompanied minors to Afghanistan, a police spokesman said.
The officer was attacked about 10:40 a.m. as he was exiting the Medborgarplatsen subway
station on the island of Sodermalm, said Officer Lars Bystrom of the Stockholm police.
Fatemeh Khavari, a representative for an informal group — Ung i Sverige, or Young in Sweden — told Dagens Nyheter: "We feel sorry for the police.
There are so many of us gathered here, and it would be easy to hide in the crowd." The organization has been demonstrating for weeks
at Medborgarplatsen to protest the deportation of Afghans, including unaccompanied minors, from Sweden to their war-torn country.

" Officer Bystrom said. that There is nothing that suggests in any way that there could be a terrorist motive behind this action,
