In 2004, disabled actor, star of Doctor Who, Nabil Shaban played Mack the Knife in Theatre Workshop's production of Brecht's "Threepenny Opera", directed by Robert Rae. The show was a phenominal success, and Shaban was nominated Best Actor in Scottish Theatre for his portrayal of the charming but evil Macheath.
