When you take artificially intelligent robotics and put them on sandy surfaces, you get a robot that moves like a turtle!
So, how does “C-Turtle” work? Turtle-like flippers dig into the ground and provide propulsion, while its AI can adapt to different surfaces within an hour.
The structure is simply laminated cardboard shaped by a laser cutter, so the robot can be fabricated in less than a day and assembled for just $70.
Researchers envision the technology helping in landmine detection, or even used to explore Mars.
But first, we’ll just wait… and wait… for it to get across this beach.
