Need a helping hand?
Open Bionics’ Brunel Hand is a robotic device that can be used for research.
Its open-source coding gives easy access to researchers and allows them to customize the hand based on individual project needs.
Weighing in at just under a pound, it has nine degrees of freedom — allowing it to wave or pick up delicate items like a glass cup.
The developers want the hand to help in prosthetic research, or even make it into a fully functional hand for a humanoid robot.
Open-sourcing any progress in prosthetics is something we can all shake on!
