It was sweet revenge for Gilas Pilipinas.

The Philippines defeated defending champion China, 96-87, to begin its 2017 FIBA Asia Cup campaign in Lebanon. With the win, the Philippines finally avenged its 2015 FIBA Asia Championship loss in Changsa, China.

And the one who delivered the victory in the crucial moments was Terrence Romeo, someone who was part of that 2015 Gilas team.

Gilas was down 87-84 with less than five minutes remaining but Romeo turned the arena into his own personal playground, burying one shot after the other in the closing moments. The ever-versatile guard scored seven straight points as he left clueless Chinese defenders in his wake. Romeo finished with a game-high 26 points, shooting 9-of-14 from the field, including five three-pointers.
