Transgender people protested in the town of Bannu in northwestern Pakistan on August 4. Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported that local authorities had banned transgender dance performances, cutting off a major source of revenue.

The Express Tribune, in April, reported a crackdown against transgender people in Bannu. Members of the transgender community accused police of discrimination, saying authorities were trying to force people from the area.
