The U.S. Air Force conducted a test of an unarmed intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) early on August 2 in California, according to an official statement released by the Air Force.
The Minuteman III missile was launched from the Vandenberg Air Force Base.
In a statement, the Air Force said while it was “not a response to recent North Korean actions, the test demonstrates that the United States’ nuclear enterprise is safe, secure, effective and ready to be able to deter, detect and defend against attacks on the United States and its allies.” Credit: 30th Space Wing, Vandenberg AFB via Storyful
