愛知県あま市にある「萱津神社」は日本で唯一漬物を祭る神社です。言い伝えによると、この土地の人々が神前に大根や茄子等の野菜と海からとれた塩を同時に供えるようになり、ある時、野菜と塩を甕にいれたところ、野菜が塩漬けになり、偶然にも漬物となったそうです。毎年8月21日には「香の物祭(漬物祭)」が行われます。その昔日本武尊がこの地に立ち寄り、村民が漬物を献上したところ、「藪(やぶ)に神物(こうのもの)」と言ったため、漬物のことを香の物と呼ぶ由来の一つにもなっています。
