Susan Rice suggests race, gender bias linked to 'unmasking' backlash
Susan Rice, the Obama national security adviser under fire over her alleged involvement in the “unmasking” of Trump associates during the 2016 presidential election, suggested in a fresh interview that race and gender might be playing a role in the scrutiny she’s faced.
In an interview with journalist Michael Tomasky for New York Magazine, Rice reportedly questioned the criticism she’s faced dating back to the Benghazi controversy.
“Why me? Why not Jay Carney, for example, who was then our press secretary, who stood up more?” she asked.

Indigenous women call reporter ‘white lady,’ demand she leave press conference
A press conference with family members of missing and murdered indigenous women and girls devolved into shouts of “white lady,” “white man,” and demands for respect after a journalist asked whether Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is the person to blame for missing indigenous teens in Northern Ontario.
“Excuse me, did I just hear you correctly?”
Julie Van Dusen, a CBC television reporter who asked the question, tried to interrupt, explaining she’d like to hear Wabano-Iahtail’s opinion on any differences between Trudeau’s record on indigenous affairs with that of his predecessor, Stephen Harper.
Wabano-Iahtail and the group’s elder, Sophie McKeown, spoke over her, telling the reporter “no,” “stop,” and to “not speak to us” that way.

Winnipeg woman found guilty of hiding dead babies in locker
Andrea Giesbrecht was arrested in October 2014 after police found remains of six infants in bags and other containers inside a U-Haul storage locker.
A judge has determined that a woman secretly delivered six babies at or near full term and stashed their remains in a U-Haul storage locker.
Provincial court Judge Murray Thompson convicted Andrea Giesbrecht on six counts of concealing the body of a dead child. Each carries a maximum two years in jail.
He said the infants were likely to have been born alive but, because they were badly decomposed, medical experts could not determine how they died.

Two Decades of Gallup Polls Show Majority of Americans Want Abortion To Be Illegal in Most Cases
In 37 consecutive polls performed throughout the past 21 years on the issue of abortion, Gallup has found that a majority of Americans surveyed say abortion should be illegal in all or most cases.
“In the past 20 years, the percentage who say abortion should be illegal in all circumstances or all but a few circumstances has never dropped below 54 percent,” writes Terence P. Jeffrey at CNS News.com.
A review of the data over the last two decades may appear to be at odds with Gallup’s latest poll, conducted May 6-10, with the headline: “Americans Choose ‘Pro-Choice’ For First Time in Seven Years.”
