Kendrick Lamar just went double platinum with his fourth studio album 'Damn.' Now he can add most 2017 MTV Video Music Award nominations to his resume. The Compton hitmaker was nominated eight times for "Humble." R&B/Pop stars The Weeknd and Katy Perry tied for second with five nominations. MTV is also doing away with gendered categories. They also introduced a "fight against the system" award for videos that actively fight injustice.
