Dunkirk is officially one of the most anticipated movies of the year… with some critics calling it the best war movie ever made.
But Harry Styles – who plays a brave soldier named Alex in the move – admitted he had no idea what he was doing during filming.
The 23-year-old told The Sun that he watched Saving Private Ryan for inspiration, and he went into the filmmaking process without knowing what was going on… but he wanted to go in that way – because the soldiers also didn’t have any idea what they faced.
He previously confessed to being struck by nerves on set, but he also believed that tension helped him in his role.
Harry called the filming very physical, and he was pushed to the limits in brutal weather conditions and spent hours in freezing cold seawater.
He called those long days in the water the most challenging, and you get to the point where you’re so exhausted you get emotional.
Harry has been met with high praise for his work in the film.
