Britain Chris Froome is set to clinch his fourth-ever yellow jersey in the Tour de France 2017.

The Team Sky rider will not see his lead attacked by any competitors in Sunday’s final Paris stage and will win the race for a third successive year.

Despite finishing in third place in the Tour’s final summit finish on Thursday, July 22, the 2016 champion’s lead position remains firm.

Froome’s lead stands at 54 seconds and the Briton will win providing he reaches the Paris finish line.

“It’s an amazing feeling,” said Froome, calling this “the closest Tour of his career”.

“There was a lot of pressure coming into the stage with it being so close in the general classification. It’s a really fitting way to end the battle for the Tour de France,” the rider said.

When asked about the crowd booing him on the home straight he said he thought it was “perfectly normal” and “not something he’d take personally” as the rider who secured a second stage victory was Frenchman Warren Barguil.
