Gordon Brown has called upon the government to offer compensation to victims of child sexual abuse, after giving evidence to the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse. Speaking in central London, the former Prime Minister - who issued an official apology for the abuse suffered by children who were sent out of the UK as part of a migration programme during the 1960s and 1970s - said the UK had failed victims of abuse, and described the scandal as being worse than the sexual abuse carried out by Jimmy Savile.
