Three people, including a child, survived when a car plowed into them as they walked across an Oakland crosswalk on Wednesday, July 5. Surveillance footage shows the incident from two angles.

Jackie Velasquez, 20, and her cousin, Carla Mendoza, 18, were launched into the air, and Valasquez’s five-year-old brother, Jonathan, was pinned under the car, according to a news report. The boy is in intensive care at Children’s Hospital Oakland with spinal injuries.

The victims and the restaurant that captured the incident on video want better traffic controls in the area, KTVU reported. The speed limit in the area is 25 miles per hour, but people drive much faster, the report said. Credit: Lucky Seven Three restaurant via Storyful
