A team of RNLI rescuers in Scarborough performed an unusual rescue on July 1 when they responded to reports from the RSPCA of a porpoise stranded in mud in the town’s inner harbour.
The rescuers approached the porpoise on a small inshore lifeboat, and eased the porpoise into a cradle fashioned out of two oars and an ambulance pouch, the Yorkshire Post reported. Once the porpoise was checked for injuries, it was released into the open sea. Credit: Facebook/Sonia Fox via Storyful
