An inquiry into historic child abuse on the island of Jersey found a catalogue of failures in its care system spanning several decades, according to findings published in a report on Monday (July 3).The inquiry, led by Frances Oldham QC, heard 553 offences took place between 1947 and 2004. More than half of them are said to have happened at the former children's care home, Haut de la Garenne. The report has recommended demolishing the building to eradicate its unhappy past.
