One person died and six more were wounded when a gunman opened fire inside a hospital in the Bronx, New York, on Friday, June 30, according to New York Police Commissioner James O’Neill.
At a press conference, O’Neill said that the suspect was dead at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after trying to set himself on fire. A female victim was pronounced dead on the scene. O’Neill did not identify the shooter, but said that he was wearing a white medical-type coat and was a former employee of the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital. Unconfirmed local reports identified the shooter as former hospital employee Henry Bello.
Family members of patients in the hospital waited to hear news of what was happening inside, as this video shows. Credit: Instagram/chico_171 via Storyful
