Structures Destroyed in Strong Wind Storm in Red Deer, Alberta

An intense wind storm blew through Red Deer, Alberta, on Tuesday, June 20, causing widespread property damage and power outages.

Strong winds downed trees, blocked roads and downed power lines, which cut power to homes, according to reports. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued at the time of the storm, but there have been no confirmed reports of a tornado.

The City of Red Deer declared a state of emergency in the early hours of June 21 and issued a statement on the city’s efforts to clean up debris and restore power to the community.
