Karen Handel just won the special election run-off for a suburban Atlanta seat in Congress, after a tight race with Democrat Jon Ossoff. The two competed for a congressional seat vacated by Tom Price, who left to join the Trump administration as Secretary of Health and Human Services. Georgia's 6th congressional district has historically been held by Republicans since the 1970s. This year's campaign is the costliest in history, with total spending topping $56 million. A June 18 poll showed Ossoff leading with 49.0 percent against Handel's 48.9 percent. President Donald Trump also weighed in on the election.
