President Trump’s approval rating has taken another dip, and, according to the latest poll by CBS News, he is losing favor, in part, due to his handling of the Russia investigation.
Trump’s overall rating is now at 36%, down from the 41% tallied in late April.
Since his 100-day mark, the president's support among Republicans has dwindled from 83% to 72%.
Overall, only 28% approve of Trump’s handling of the Russia probe, with 57% of Republicans expressing a favorable view of how he’s addressing the situation.
That said, more than half of Republican respondents believe the investigation is “a political distraction that should be put aside.”
Only 1 in 5 sees the situation as “a critical security matter.”
Regardless of party affiliation, the vast majority of Americans say Trump should not attempt to derail the investigation being overseen by special counsel Robert Mueller.
The CBS News poll was conducted between June 15 and 18.
In the recent days, Trump has tweeted multiple times concerning the investigation on Russia's role in the 2016 U.S. election.
He wrote on Thursday, "You are witnessing the single greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history - led by some very bad and conflicted people! #MAGA."
