A tiny koala joey was rescued from its dead mother’s pouch on Saturday, June 17, after being hit by a car.

Called Morton, the joey weighed only 340 grams but was “brilliantly” adjusting to his new life and foster mother.

Save the Koala lists cars as one of the main threats to koalas’ welfare, stating about 4000 are killed each year by “cars and dogs”. Credit: Port Stephens Koalas via Storyful
