Trump took aim at Democrats in a Monday morning tweet.
With the matters of health care and Georgia’s special election for a U.S. Representative looming large, Trump wrote, “The Dems want to stop tax cuts, good healthcare and Border Security. Their ObamaCare is dead with 100% increases in P's. Vote now for Karen (Handel).”
This is not, of course, the president’s first assertion that that Democrats are to blame for the lack of successful major legislation since he’s taken office.
His tweets last week include, “2 million more people just dropped out of ObamaCare. It is in a death spiral. Obstructionist Democrats gave up, have no answer = resist!” and, “The Democrats have no message, not on economics, not on taxes, not on jobs, not on failing #Obamacare. They are only OBSTRUCTIONISTS!”
Trump also took a moment at his June 13 lunch with select members of Congress to express his grievances about the party.
He said, in part, “…Republicans in Congress, as hard as they're working, you have the Democrats on the other side who truly have become obstructionists…if we came up with the greatest healthcare plan or tax cut -- because we're coming out with a massive tax cut and tax reform -- but if we came up with the greatest healthcare or tax cut ever in our country's history, we wouldn’t get one Democrat vote. It's obstruction.”
Notably and according to an assessment by the Congressional Budget Office, the health care reform plan passed by the House of Representatives threatens to result in 23 million people losing coverage over the coming decade.
