Hey, we though Emmy Rossum was the one who was supposed to be Shameless, not her employers.
But of course, Emmy too has been affected by sexism in Hollywood. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Emmy was asked for her story. She reportedly says she was essentially asked to appear in a swimsuit for a role to make sure she hadn’t put on weight.
She tells the Hollywood Reporter, “As recently as a year ago, my agent called me and was like, ‘I’m so embarrassed to make this call, but there’s a big movie and they’re going to offer it to you. They really love your work on Shameless. But the director wants you to come into his office in a bikini… There’s no audition. That’s all you have to do.”
Basically Emmy believes she was going to be essentially “fat checked,” and so long as she was in shape, the part was hers.
She admits she still even considered the role, or the reasons why it was necessary for her to be in shape, but ultimately said, “Are you kidding me? Last time I checked, I’m not a model.”
Ugh, typ Hollywood. The stories are always the same.
