Harrowing Drive Through Knysna Wildfire as Residents Evacuate

Up to 10,000 people were evacuated from Knysna on Wednesday, June 7, as wildfires fueled by strong winds raged in the Western Cape town.

By Friday, at least 3,000 remained displaced with firefighters still battling some blazes. Several people were killed in the fire and hundreds of structures were destroyed, according to an official.

This video shows a woman’s escape from the coastal town surrounded by burning fires on Wednesday. On Facebook, she said that she returned the following day.
