Dramatic footage of a burning turbine was captured and uploaded onto Facebook by Cassie O’Brien on Wednesday, June 7. According to the uploader, “the smoke was visible for over 30 miles.”
Local media reported that a wind turbine from the Salt Fork Wind Facility located in the Texas Panhandle, East of Groom, caught fire around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7. At the time of this writing, officials in the region say they are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
The fire was also a wake-up call for regional fire departments as they were not equipped to handle the turbine fire, News Channel 10 reported.
