Local media reported that a wind turbine from the Salt Fork Wind Facility located in the Texas Panhandle, East of Groom, caught fire around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7. At the time of this writing, officials in the region say they are still working to determine the cause of the fire.

The fire was also a wake-up call for regional fire departments as they were not equipped to handle the turbine fire, News Channel 10 reported.
