Hot Computers Serve Hot Showers

A Dutch cloud server company is turning computer power into hot water. Nerdalize plans to start installing its servers in a small number of homes and transferring the heat they emit to hot water pipes. The could save homeowners up to $380 dollars a year and reduce CO2 emissions. Data centers require massive amounts of power to keep servers running cool; but if that residual heat is used to warm up water or a home, cooling systems aren’t necessary. (Cool idea.)
