The 2017 Scripps National Spelling Bee will kick off today and run through Thursday in Washington D.C. Here's all you need to know. A group of 11 million students competed in local bees and now compete in the finals. A five-year-old, Edith Fuller, has qualified for nationals, making her the youngest competitor in history to do so. First place through fourth place win $40,000-$10,000, respectively. The most-represented age is 13, followed by 14 and 12. The 2017 Scripps National Spelling Bee begins May 31 at 8 a.m. and runs until 6 p.m on ESPN. Thursday, June 1 the competition runs from 10 a.m-2 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m.
