Philippine Forces Rescue Residents From Mawari as Push Against Maute Continues

Residents of Marawi City were rescued on May 31 as Philippine security forces continued operations in the city against the Islamic State-linked separatist group Maute.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said on May 30 that 61 “terrorists” had been killed and 390 civilians rescued since May 25. Another 19 non-combative civilians also died, the army said.
