I shot this video on Thanksgiving Day 2016 using a Canon Powershot and a GoPro Hero 2. I used two 150ft sections of Singing Rock 11mm kernmantle static, a Black Diamond harness, Black Diamond hardware and a Northwest River Supply rescue throwbag.
I made a total of 4 descents and 4 ascents. It was slick that morning, I fell a total of 5 times and on the last ascent, I slipped and the NRS throwbag saved me from a 30-40ft fall. This slip resulted in a hurt shoulder, a cut ear and what felt like two broken fingers on my left hand. Editing the video with the injured hand later that evening took around 8hrs.
I was unhappy with the original video and about a month later made this one. My fingers turned out not to be broken and I am most excited at the thought of returning in 2017. This was my first time at Half Moon and will most certainly not be my last.
I realize that the audio is a bit dramatic but that particular piece of music is the only one that I could find that perfectly matched how I felt that day.
