A dead whale was found on the Agate Beach in Bolinas, California, on Friday, May 26.

The animal, which measured 79 feet long according to reports, was identified as a blue whale by scientists from the Marine Mammal Center. The center had collected samples of the female whale’s skin and blubber for a full necropsy.
