Uber owes its NYC drivers $45 million

Uber can't seem to catch a break with the Wall Street Journal reporting today that Uber underpaid its New York City drivers for over two years. The issues began after a nationwide disagreement back in 2014, when the company agreed to take 25 percent commission from drivers. That percentage was supposed to not include taxes and fees but Uber instead determined its own commission and took more money than it was supposed to. According to the WSJ, Uber is planning on refunding all drivers, including former drivers, about $900 each and could end up costing them $45 million as NYC is one of the companies biggest markets. “We made a mistake and we are committed to making it right by paying every driver every penny they are owed, plus interest, as quickly as possible,”
