An amber rainstorm signal was issued in Hong Kong on the morning of May 24 as a heavy downpour swept through the city.
Amber rain signals are issued in Hong Kong when the amount of rainfall exceeds 30 millimeters (1.2 inches) in an hour. According to a warning issued by the Observatory, more than 70 millimeters fell in the Kwai Tsing and Sham Shui Po Districts over an hour-long period, from about 6:50 to 7:50 am.
