Would you 3D-print a hand for a friend? Six Binghamton University students did just that when they designed a 3D-printed prosthetic for Susan Reigel, an employee at their school’s dining services who lost her hand in an accident 37 years ago. The students worked with Susan for around a year to improve the prosthetic hand. It can carry up to ten pounds and costs less than $600 to make. The students hope their affordable design could one day help amputees in developing countries.
