A landslide closed down California’s scenic Route 1 in Monterey County and it remains unclear when the road may reopen.
Significant amounts of dirt and rock continue to slide down the hill, and officials cannot assess the area until the sliding stops, local news reported.
The slide is in an area known as Mud Creek, which is about eight miles north of the Monterey and San Luis Obispo counties line. This video, taken by the sheriff’s office, shows the extent of the landslide.
